形態特徵

  • Evergreen trees to 15 m high, about 2 m across (tree at ca. 900 m at Chinshuiying); branches with lenticels; young branchlets glabrous.
  • Leaves lanceolate to oblong-ovate, 10–19 cm long, 3–4.5 cm broad, coriaceous, caudate to acuminate at apex, cuneate to obtuse at base, glabrous, grayish-brown when dry, midrib very prominent above, flat below, lateral veins 9–14 pairs, indistinct; petioles 0.5–0.7 cm long.
  • Staminate flowers April to May, about 2.2 mm long, 2 mm broad; perianth 6-lobed; stamens 12, about 2 mm long, anthers longitudinally dehiscent; reduced ovary present. Pistillate flowers 1.5 mm long, perianth 6-lobed; styles 3, stigmas pointed.
  • Cupules dish-shaped, 1.2 cm across, scales imbricate in upper part and united into 3–5 concentric rings below; nuts rhomboid or depressed-globose, 1.4–1.7 cm long, 1.5–1.6 cm across.

分布

  • 台灣 : In broad-leaved forests at altitudes of 300–1,500 m in the central part and 900–1,300 m at Chinshuiying, Tawu, in the southern part.
